COZAAR (LOSARTAN) – Information, Dosage, Cost Without Insurance

January 5, 2021

Cozaar (losartan) is a drug known as an angiotensin II receptor blocker. Angiotensin II is a hormone known as a vasoconstrictor, meaning that it causes blood vessels to narrow. Narrowing blood vessels causes blood pressure to go up. (Think of a garden hose if you put your finger over the end. The resulting squirt is from higher pressure). By blocking angiotensin II, losartan relaxes blood vessels, lowering blood pressure. Treating hypertension, or high blood pressure, can prevent heart attacks, strokes, and kidney failure. This medication is often prescribed for diabetic patients with high blood pressure, to prevent kidney damage.
