How to Relieve Nausea While on Ozempic

July 3, 2023

Nausea and vomiting are two known side effects of Ozempic (semaglutide). Many times, these side effects will go away over days or weeks. If nausea does not subside, there are a few adjustments you can make to help you feel better.

Diet changes

Avoiding fried, greasy foods can be helpful in reducing nausea. Stick to healthy snacks like raw fruits and vegetables. Novo Nordisk, the maker of Ozempic, recommends eating light, bland foods and eating smaller meals. Eat slowly and drink cool drinks such as water or unsweetened iced tea. Following these diet tip will not only help alleviate nausea but will also help with weight loss.

Dose changes

Another way to decrease the side effects of Ozempic is to lower the dose you are taking. Some patients are without side effects when first beginning Ozempic but start having nausea as their dose is raised. In these cases, you can talk to your doctor or medical provider about lowering your dose to the previous dose. Most people will still lose weight, even on the lower dose.
