Should I Get My Testosterone Level Checked?

January 29, 2023

When should testosterone levels be checked? Testosterone is a predominantly male sex hormone. It increases during puberty, causing boys to turn into men physically. At around age 30, testosterone levels begin to drop 1 to 2% per year. This may result in:

  • fewer spontaneous erections
  • difficulty initiating and maintaining an erection
  • lowered muscle and bone mass
  • hot flashes
  • sweating
  • loss of facial and other body hair
  • breast discomfort
  • depression
  • fatigue

Should the above signs and symptoms occur, male patients can have a blood test of testosterone levels. A normal level is 300 to 1,000 nanograms per deciliter. The test is usually performed in the morning when testosterone levels are highest.

Where can I get my testosterone levels checked?

QuickMD now lets you order your own testosterone level online. The blood sample can then be collected at any LabCorp location in the US. One of the QuickMD physicians will contact you with the results.
