Admittance Criteria For MAT
The patient must have capacity to make their own medical decisions and needs to be of legal age (18 years or older).
During the initial consultation, it is crucial to assess the potential need of a patient for appropriate counseling and other ancillary services in their area, and to recognize when those services are needed, as MAT always should be combined with counseling and behavioral therapy—we can refer our patients to free digital FDA approved counseling (if the household income is <85k/year).
QuickMD physicians are not permitted to delegate the prescribing of buprenorphine to non-QuickMD physicians. Even QuickMD physicians who hold DEA registrations to prescribe controlled substances for other conditions are not allowed to prescribe buprenorphine for the treatment of addiction unless they meet the DATA requirements and hold a waiver. The encounter must be documented appropriately in the QuickMD EMR.
